Pinterest ...

Are you on Pinterest? Here's my  problem with Pinterest... there are SO. MANY. GREAT. IDEAS.

I'm always re-pinning outfit ideas, recipes, advice on how to get fit, how to lose weight, how to, how to, how to! My favourite part of Pinterest though is definitely the craft ideas. And in particular, the ideas for the garden.

Contrary to popular opinion, despite the years I've spent tucked away by myself on computers I love the outdoors. Hill walking, mountain climbing, strolls through the countryside. Camping, bonfires, the beach, BBQs, sunsets and sunrises, tinned food and wet wipes. Gardens, deck chairs, blankets, books, a walkman, a CD player, an iPod ...

I found a wonderful craft idea the other day on Pinterest - using old tin cans, punch out holes in different shapes (circles, stars, hearts etc.) and use them as a candle holder. Easy and perfect.

I've got my baked bean tin in the freezer at the moment (if you fill them with water and freeze it first, it stops the can from denting when you knock the holes through) and when I finish it, I'll definitely be posting some pictures, and maybe a tutorial.

If you're on Pinterest, add me!!

Autumn is a-coming ...

1. Lace cardigan, Matalan 2. Navy colour block bag, Dorothy Perkins 3. Hyacinth floral tunic, Top Shop
4. Grey aztec boots, River Island 5. Low rise boyfriend jeans, River Island 6. Plain tees, H&M 7. Suede point shoes, Top Shop 8. Knitted zip front cardigan, Top Shop 9. Stone leaf shift dress, Apricot

It's September and the time where I begin to look forward to an autumn wardrobe. I may be the girl who would kill to live somewhere with sunshine all year round, but I'm also the girl who loves woolly cardigans, new boots and scarves, gloves and hats and socks and ... you get the idea!

These are a few key pieces I'm really hoping will enter my wardrober over the next month or two. They're all affordable pieces from hugh street stores so here's hoping.

So here goes ...

So, here's the thing. I work full time in an industry I want to be part of but in a job I don't love. I write (for free) for several websites in order to gain as much experience as possible. I have a huge family spread all over the country who I try to see as often as possible, and I friends - from home, from university, friends who live all over the globe - all of whom deserve as much as my time as possible.

I'm not sure if it's even possible to simplify my life.

But here goes.

I'm not sure when I'll get the 9-5 job that I want but in the mean time, as I wait and apply and cross my fingers and toes for the right job to appear, I'm going to attempt to make more time for ... walks in the country, for sitting in new pubs and discovering new ciders with friends; figuring out how to successfully make red velvet cupcakes; collating my travelling memories in a scrapbook collectiom; learning to knit properly; documenting each and every day with a new picture, a snapshot of my life as it is in my mid twenties.

Four-in-one skirts? I'll take 2 for 8 then!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'd like to try and incorporate more fashion posts in to this blog. As the winter months approach, I am aiming to increase my wardrobe (honestly, it's pitiful the lack of clothes I have) and also mix up my style - start wearing the things I do own in different ways and not be afraid of new outfits.

First step was purchasing this interesting new skirt on an impulse last weekend.

The Anna skirt, by Zand Amsterdam is four skirts in one, and is worn by popping together the poppers wherever fits most comfortable. It has gorgeous fabrics on both sides, and it also has a different fabric belt which is attached via a zip, so you can also switch that around.

It is like my dream skirt, as I get four skirts for the price of one, and I can continue to wear as my weight loss kicks in!

I wore it yesterday for the first time, with a black vest (H&M) and cardigan (New Look) as well as a brown pair of Top Shop boots. I haven't received so many outfit compliments since I started this job ... so I wore it again today, the other way around!

(Nail) Art Attack!

Nail art! Something that until very recently I had never given much thought to.

I've always painted my nails, although as they are often in such a bad state (they're very brittle and they peel all. the. time.) I do try to give them a week's break in between every polish.

But recently I've been inspired to try something new - probably thanks to Lauren Conrad's new beauty website from which I found this blue moon tutorial.

I found this tutorial really easy to follow, and the polishes were both from Miss Sporty's collection. These polishes are only £1.99 and available in all good drug stores in Britain. And they are wonderful! Such a bargain and they go on so easily. They have a wide brush, but they're downfall comes from the fact that I needed at least 3 coats of each.

This second tutorial came from a great website that my friend Steph recommended to me, Nailside. This explosion accent nail tutorial was SO difficult to figure out, as I could not get the placing of the tape correctly.

I used an NYC red polish plus the Miss Sporty silver. The NYC polish was an old one, but it still went on well, although I really should buy a new one!

I'm giving my nails a break right now, but I think next I will try Jane at Nailside's heavy layering experiment.

"The best fashion show is on the street. Always has been, always will be."

Last week, a friend of mine recommended watching Bill Cunningham New York.

As someone with a mild interest in fashion (growing every day though), Bill isn't someone I was aware of, but after watching the trailer I knew this would be something I would thoroughly enjoy, and if you have any interest in fashion, New York, art or photography, you should watch this.

It was such a heartwarming documentary, about someone who is so unbelivably and unabashedly passionate about what they love, and Bill is a real inspriation.

Crafternoon fun

Let's get this blog back up and running with a craft post!

My friend Claudia and I are both into craft projects - and yet can never find the time to actually sit down and create things.

A few weekends back, we finally got our acts together, and had ourselves a little crafternoon fun!

I made a paper heart garland for a friend's fireplace (above) before going on to successfully create my first bracelet using a blue peter batch, anchor, beads and bracelet clasp.

I've got myself involved with Pinterest - add me here! - and there are so many wonderful craft project ideas there! My next plan is to make some of these sun jars for Christmas presents :)

Which nail polish wouldn't look good on you, girl

Photobucket

I've been really wanting to buy some OPI nail polish lately, just because I've heard such good things. Unfortunately I just cannot afford it.

So to appease myself, today I bought the cheapest of cheap nail polish - Collection 2000 Hot Looks nail polish!

I've been wanting a grey colour for a while (I did want something more greige-y but there was nothing in Boots) I'll go apply it and report back!

(Actually I've suddenly realised this is one of my biggest issues - spending little bits of money on cheap items, where if I just saved it and waited I could afford something more expensive.
Hmm, maybe I should really look into this ... )

Dressed to kill

Photobucket

So my Grandad is getting married next Saturday. I'm panicking (as I always do) over what to wear. I love this dress that I purchased from Top Shop online. It was delivered on Tuesday and fits perfectly, something which made me really happy. But it's quite short and I needed to find a way to make it look classy enough for a wedding.

I'm still unsure how I'm going to wear it in the day, to the wedding and the meal -probably nude tights and nude heels, with a shawl (if it's not too cold that day!) or a cardigan, with some understated jewellery, but I think I'm going to wear the above outfit to the reception in the evening ... if the shoes aren't too high for me!

I bought some new bedding this past week. It's only from Asda so cheap as chips but I like it. It brightens my room up.
I also bought a black and white set, not as intense as this one! Both cute though <3

I like buying bedding and things for the home. Even though I currently only have a 12ft x 12ft room to do anything with, I like to imagine how I'd decorate, when I finally move out of this childhood bedroom.

A few friends inspired me to start this blog so here I am. I guess I'm going to use this as a new kind of LiveJournal. I'm going to post about things I buy, or want to buy. What I did that interested me that day. Random facts about the day. Oooh I bought a starbucks today! Oooh did you see the state of the toilets in the the Athlete's Village in Delhi!?
